What became clear to me very early on is that the reason plastic and unsustainable packaging is so common is the convenience that it provides. One of our primary aims is to make a ‘Zero Waste’ lifestyle more accessible.
During the early stages of trying to achieve a ZW lifestyle, my son was reluctant and found it challenging for exactly this reason - convenience - and so we are well aware of the obstacles and challenges of this lifestyle. This is where ‘Pack It In’ is here to help.
In addition, if you are on a low income in Worcestershire there is no alternative to buying small quantities of food in plastic packaging. You could buy in bulk from a non-local retailer which is cheaper long term, but many families cannot afford the larger spend and travel costs. However, by buying in bulk ourselves and inviting you to bring reusable containers to our centrally located shop, we can work together to make sustainability available to all.
We want to provide you with affordable and yes, convenient, package-free products to help you to live more sustainably.
All of our products are;
- Plastic free
- Palm Oil free
- GM free
- Vegan Friendly
And where possible, our products will be;
- Locally sourced
- Fairtrade or meet GOTS requirements (Global Organic Textile Standards).
Yes, when we buy our stock, some will come in plastic and we are open about this, but there will be far less packaging than if all of our customers bought packaged products individually. Simply by opening our doors to you and showing wholesalers the demand for sustainable packaging, and lobbying them to supply larger and larger quantities to us, we can continue our own journey towards a ‘Zero Waste’ world.
